A short while ago I was walking to the farmers market from the church. I started in casual conversation with Deloris, a homeless lady headed the same way.
Deloris and I talked about a number of things - the weather, the Mavs and the Cowboys. When she suddenly blurted out “you know what I miss?“”Tell me”, I replied. “I miss thanksgiving. Not the food really , they feed us well down here. I miss sitting down next to someone and celebrating thanksgiving with friends.”
If you’ve ever come down to the southwest corner of downtown - you’ll have seen people there offering food to the homeless. rarely do we see people set a table and sit down and enjoy a meal with those they are looking to feed.
So we are teaming up with a local charity, “The Human Impact“ and putting together a rather unique event for our next special project It’s called “Meat our Friends”. We plan on smoking 150lbs of ribs, setting tables with fine linen and with others we are going to sit down and celebrate thanksgiving with our friends downtown who are trapped in homelessness.

Where do you come in? As a priest, I am always going to ask for prayer. So if you are the praying type do pray for us.
Because some have already asked, yes you can contribute towards this click on the PayPal link.
And yes we may have a few spare invitations so if you’d like to join us - we can’t make any promises but I’ll see what I can do.
I can’t say this enough - thank you all so much for your support and encouragement. It makes all the difference.
